About Unmuted Comms
Unmuted Comms is a podcast about the decisions behind excellent communications. The finished campaign, event, story or post is only what people see. We talk about the judgement, relationships and trade-offs that made it possible.

Each episode starts with a problem communicators would recognise: an event that becomes everyone’s responsibility and somehow comms’ job to fix; a team of one facing more requests than it can meet; switching industries and skills that transfer; or dealing with AI-slop at work. Ibukun Taiwo and Grace Thuo work through the decision making beneath those problems, drawing on their experience and questioning their own assumptions along the way.
The question running through the show is simple: what is communications responsible for, and what does it take to do that work well? That means looking beyond the output to ask who owns the decision, whose trust matters, what success would look like and what to do when the ideal plan meets the reality of an organisation.
We talk about strategy, careers, storytelling, reputation and leadership, with room for the messy parts that rarely make it into case studies. There is no single playbook.
Unmuted is for communicators navigating comms within the messy realities of the workplace, and leaders trying to build efficient teams that always deliver excellence. We hope each conversation leaves you with better questions to ask and more confidence in the choices you make at work.
